Have you ever felt stuck between excitement and fear? Like your heart is ready to leap forward, but your feet feel glued to the ground? That was me recently, as I embarked on rebranding myself as an EMDR-inspired coach.
At first, I was buzzing with adventure and possibility. I imagined the new videos, the fresh messaging, the impact I could make. But then… anxiety crept in. Motivation slipped away. Even recording a simple self-introduction video felt like a chore I kept postponing. The inner tug-of-war between wanting to grow and fearing the unknown was real-and painful.
So, what did I do? I turned to my own tool: the 4-Step EMDR-Inspired Inner Mapping & Release Process. Here’s how it helped me break free-and how it can help you too.
Step 1: Acknowledge the Conflict Within
I sat quietly and noticed two parts of me:
- The excited part, eager to embrace this new identity as an EMDR-inspired coach.
- The heavy part, feeling unmotivated, anxious, and unsure.
Both parts held wisdom. Both wanted to protect me in their own way.
Step 2: Dialogue with My Protective Part
I asked myself, “What are you afraid will happen if I fully step into this new role?”
In response, I offered compassion and safety:
“I hear you. You’ve been working hard to protect me, and I’m grateful. I’m not abandoning who I was-I’m evolving.”
This simple act of kindness toward my fear softened its grip.
Step 3: Connect with My Empowered Self
Then, I turned my attention to the powerful part of me-the part that chose to rebrand. I asked:
- How does this new path align with my true identity?
- What kinds of lives will I impact by stepping into this role?
- What strengths do I already embody that make me ready for this change?
Step 4: Anchor into My Truth
I let my body feel the truth:
“It is safe for me to evolve. It is safe for me to be visible. I don’t have to abandon my past-I am building on it.”
This grounding gave me the courage to move forward, one step at a time.
Why Sharing This Matters
Rebranding-whether in business, life, or mindset-is deeply emotional. It can stir up fear, doubt, and resistance. But it can also be a powerful catalyst for growth when we approach it with compassion and clarity.
If you’re feeling stuck between the thrill of change and the fear of the unknown, try this 4-step inner mapping process. Listen to all parts of yourself, offer kindness, and anchor into your truth. You might just find the freedom to step boldly into your next chapter.
